Attention: Caretakers of Sacred Space

Shaman Elder Maggie Wahls

You know, When Creator gave us this mission over a year ago and told me there was a place to build this community of healers and visitors, I wondered how we would ever find the land that He had in mind. It was really an act of faith to follow His guidance and locate this place out of all of the US. It is quite a story in itself how Creator led us to this place. And when we found it we saw the angels and guides all coming forward to greet us and welcome us.

What I didn't expect was that Creator had chosen a sacred site, a holy piece of land, a place that has its own healing power. No one has ever lived on this property before, it is virgin and it is in a forest of the Ozark Mountains of Missouri. As I work there and build there with the help from others that Creator sends like yourself, I see that everyone who visits this sacred site receives a healing. Not through a person, but through the holy place itself. We are becoming aware of the spirit that is there, of the healing power that Creator has put on this land Himself.

We are discovering that it is sacred like Sedona, like Mount Shasta, like Stonehenge and has been a sacred site for thousands of years! There is some civilization who lived here that goes back even before the Native Americans. I guess I didn't expect Creator to give us a sacred site. I was happy to just receive a place, but isn't it just like Creator to give us not just land but holy land to protect, preserve and build a community on so people can come and visit and work here as healers on this sacred site.

I am sure that as we honor this holy place and grow it into a beautiful intentional shrine that it will give us more and more of what it has. How often do we have the chance to develop a sacred site, to create facilities around a sacred site for visitors? How often do we get the chance to build buildings and housing and conference rooms and labyrinths and meditation huts and other beautiful spiritual reminders around a sacred site? How often are healers invited to come and work at a sacred site?

Most sacred sites in the US today are on federal land. The Native American sacred sites were kept hidden by those tribes. They were natural places like mountains and springs and the pond here on this land, and the tribes just let them be natural and would return to the mountain or spring for ceremony. They did not live there, they did not mark them or build anything near them. In some ways they wanted to keep them hidden from outsiders, keep them for themselves and not share them even with other tribes sometimes. And today the miners and gas and oil companies go in and tear down the mountains or springs and build refineries and strip mines because they say, well there is nothing there! And the Native Americans cannot fight with the companies. I heard an Elder say just last week that it would have been better to build a building around their sacred site and this would not be happening today.

So I see the need to develop a sacred site with intention and light and love, with the help of angels and guides who can show us and tell us the best way to make a beautiful place around the site so that it is kept sacred and preserved for all people.

When LHC began, there was extreme difficulty trying to make it a non profit place. I wondered why it became impossible, mostly due to new tax laws as the government is not thrilled with non profits. They want the tax money and are working hard to eliminate non profit status. But now I see that if we had gone non profit it would have given outsiders too much control over this sacred place. So we pay the taxes just as Jesus did & we can go ahead and preserve this sacred place without their interference as Creator intended.

I was recently in Hawaii and saw the same thing happening with their shrines or heiaus. The military just takes their lands and builds military bases and shuts the people out from their own holy places. The Hawaiian elders recently lost their court battle to reclaim their sacred sites on government land.

By building this intentional community around this sacred place at LHC we can hold it forever in its own light and beauty and power. We can assure that a group of healers live here and take care of it forever. People who can respect it and honor it. And we keep it open to all peoples.

I was really surprised and humbled to see that Creator not only chose to build this community but also to give us sacred land on which to build. Everyone who has come there has received a healing. We have had a heart disease healing there, documented. We have had a healing from alcoholism there. Many healings of body mind & spirit. One fellow came there so sick that I had to give him my staff so he could walk around a bit on the land. I gave him my staff and he walked away by himself. He came back an hour later practically skipping down the path without my staff. He was a changed man, happy, light and free. How blessed are we to have a place we can go to receive healing in this way! How wonderful is Creator!

What we need right now to create this place, is people who are aware that it is here. Still in the creation stages of this project. We have only been here since January of 2006. We are breaking ground for the first of many buildings in September. We are trying to ready at least one building that will serve as housing through this first winter. We are trying to raise funds for this purpose. We have trimmed the trees and laid stones in the paths and chipped a lot of wood for the paths & healed the pond, the seeming center of the healing power here, so it is blue & beautiful instead of muddy. We are getting electric and water installed and these are huge jobs. We have cleared over 25 camping sites & over half of the land is still completely untouched and unimproved. We need hands & feet to come and help. We need funds for buildings and chapels and shrines. We need healers willing to come and visit and share their gifts with visitors for a week or two or longer each year. There will be remuneration for them & permanent acknowledgement for all who contribute in any way. It is a community of healers on a sacred site & when the healers come and the people learn about the sacred healing power here, we need the healers here to help support the healing of the visitors.

In a very obtuse way it becomes a kind of alternative hospital doesn't it! And of course we are already open. We offer campfires and singing and dancing and prayer and ceremony and weekend events to honor the land and to gather people together for what Creator wants to have here. It is already manifested by Creator. It is only for us to be the hands and feet to accomplish the physical work.

I just wanted to share this incredible place with you & if there is anything you can do to spread the word that is wonderful! I have a brochure on word that can be emailed to anyone and printed out just like a brochure.

Funds are gladly accepted through the Donations Page or a check/money order/cashier check to:

I hope you can come here personally and experience this sacred place for yourself. Last week a visitor got down on her knees as she felt the power on this land. I always go there with humility and honor and ask permission to be there. The angels on this land are very tall & strong, unlike other angels I have known, ancient, quiet and watching to see what we will do. Will we honor it as Creator intends it to be honored or will we ignore its healing power and let our egos run away with us?

The more we do aligned with Creators intentions the more the angles and guides come out and smile and begin to participate themselves. They are watching us. It is our choice to make this place what it should be or not. I cannot do this work alone.

My mission here is to be the anchor. To recognize the sacredness here and to create a community of healers to work here & support the healing that Creator intends for all the world here. When the work is done I hope to be just one of the healers who lives here offering teaching, guidance, counseling and support in my own little way. I am so honored to be part of this incredible sacred place.

Aho!
